class Sumary

The focus of our activities on Tuesday was to learn new vocabulary, and to increase our ASL fluency, by copy signing from a new book.

In class, we read a new book, and copy signed professor Carl, so not only did we learn new vocab, but we also got a little bit better at signing. We also did another free signing session.

The class activities once again brought to the forefront of my mind how much repetition is needed to truly absorb ASL.

I realize that i have not been keeping up with posting my weekly summaries, and while I regret it, there is little I can do, except do better in the future. Sure, I could make up some posts that would sound convincing, as I do remember much of what we learned in those classes, but that would be disrespectful and dishonest.

second weekly review of class

The focus of this weeks class is on learning new signs, and increasing our signing speed by copysigning.

We reaffirmed our knowledge of the five lego people, and increased the number of signs we know by learning new vocab and working on vocab cards put on sheets. We quizzed each other and did an interesting exercise where one person signed a word, and motioned to where it was on a sheet. We had to figure out the sign, and then put it in the right box.

This activity made us have to recall signs and split our attention between understanding the sign, and putting it on the paper. Being able to do two things and understand sign forced us to stop concentrating so much on just one aspect of sign, sort of like a real conversation.

This week we didn't have class Tuesday, and professor Carl was gone Thursday.

This is the review of class for the 25th and 27th. I am sorta behind in my posting, but I wrote this awhile ago, and figured that even though its not really done I should post it.

our weekly activities were focused on learning new vocab and free signing,

the main points of freesigning was repitition, and the new vocab excercises helped us learn new signs

the main things ive learned in class is that i need to practice more.
